Loyalty affects the number of Credits you earn when mining and the amount of damage that you do. The time needed to gain a certain loyalty is calculated with the following mathematic formula: y = 45x(x-1)-20, x representing the amount of loyalty and y the time needed to reach x loyalty (in seconds)As of version .61h, loyalty increases 25% faster. It also determines the types of ships you can spawn. Keep in mind that these ships also require a certain level of Starbase for them to be spawned.
As of version .61i, loyalty saves even when you leave if you join the same exact faction as before. This may have been done in response to the increasingly infamous "GUI glitch," where it became impossible to interact with any starbase or ship GUI screens, rendering the game nearly unplayable for those that it befalls. The only known way to fix it is to rejoin the game, which previously meant all loyalty was lost. This glitch has now been patched.
Loyalty gains faster when the round is in endgame.
